Apollo Elliot Murray

Cellist Apollo Elliot Murray is a sixteen-year-old student who started playing at the age of five. He is currently a student at the Nelly Berman School of Music, where he has studied since 2017 on a merit scholarship under Jacques-Pierre Malan, Jeffrey Solow, and Elliot Mallard. A two-time First Prize winner of the Nelly Berman Concerto Competition, he has performed the Elgar Cello Concerto with the Ambler Symphony and the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto accompanied by the Nelly Berman School String Quartet. Additional honors include prizes from the Golden Key Music Festival, which led to a performance at Carnegie Hall, and from the International Youth Music Competition. Apollo is currently a cellist with the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra and the Youth Chamber Orchestra of Temple University’s Center for Gifted Young Musicians. Previous orchestral experience includes the Philadelphia Young Artists Orchestra, Prysm Strings, and the Philadelphia International Music Festival. He is a committed chamber musician who has participated in organized chamber music ensembles through the Center for Gifted Young Musicians and the Point Counterpoint summer program, and he will participate in the 2026 Green Mountain Music Festival in Vermont.
