Deborah Sherer

Deborah Sherer is a local artist who graduated from MICA as a Print major, and later participated in a two-year Ceramics Design program at the Bezalel Academy in Jerusalem. Her first early passions were drawing and art history. Through many years of experimentation, she has developed skills in a wide range of traditional materials. Though in awe of the Old Masters and contemporary artists who have conquered the traditional techniques, she is a relative latecomer to oil painting, seduced by its potential to produce textures akin to ceramic glazes. She has participated in several workshops with accomplished painters Duane Lutsko, Mia Bergeron, and Palden Hamilton, and has taught artists' anatomy to adults. Additionally, she works online with students in portfolio development and essay writing, as they prepare applications to art colleges.
