A performer on modern piano and fortepiano, Eva Mengelkoch’s artistry has been described as “formidable on both instruments, technically brilliant and poetically distinctive.”  She has concertized in North America, Central America, India, and throughout Western and Central Europe. Her world-premiere recording of “Songs for Lena” by Albrecht Mendelssohn Bartholdy” with Julianne Baird and Ryan de Ryke was released by NAXOS and received internationally to rave reviews. Opera Nederland named it “CD of the Month” in November 2021. As a scholar, Dr. Mengelkoch has presented at the American Musicological Society Annual Meeting, Marquette University’s Women Studies Conference, and The Darkwater Women in Music Festival. Her scholarly edition of Albrecht Mendelssohn’s “Songs for Lena” was published in March 2024 by A-R Editions and has been nominated for the Claude V. Palisca Award. Dr. Mengelkoch received her graduate degrees at Indiana University as a student of Schnabel-pupil Leonard Hokanson and Elisabeth Wright. Since 2022, she has worked intensively with Hans Peter Blochwitz on the interpretation of the Lied repertory.
